*sigh* It’s been such a treat to be able to snuggle and photograph two gorgeous, brand new babies this week. I love my job.
I first met Carter’s mama, Rachel, two summers ago when I photographed her sister Charlotte’s wedding in PEI. Rachel & Charlotte are both just so genuinely sweet and lovable. SO, when the I met up with Charlotte again this summer at a couple of weddings I was photographing and she told me that Rachel was expecting, I was SO SO happy! Then, when Charlotte made arrangements for me to do a newborn session with them, I was THRILLED!
Carter was such a good little model! Once his belly was full and he was snuggled, he drifted off and let me do my thing. Thanks guys for making the long drive…. I’m so glad you did!
Isn’t he SO handsome???

I don’t even know where to begin telling you about how amazing little baby Isabella is. Of course, every baby is a precious gift. But to Isabella’s mom & dad, she’s an absolute miracle. After years of struggling with infertility, with the help of some specialists and some Divine assistance, the very tiny, beautiful beginnings of Isabella began in a little dish in a private Halifax clinic. Her mom, Bobbi, told me that they have pictures of her when she was just a little cell! Not many people have those kinds of photos for their scrapbooks! Being a high risk pregnancy, Bobbi had weekly checkups throughout her pregnancy and got to watch Isabella grow at these weekly ultrasounds. I had the privilege of spending a couple hours with these two ladies this week for a photo session at their home. I even got to snuggle Isabella for a while! I feel so honoured to have been asked to photograph such an incredible, gorgeous little girl!
We took all of the images in Isabella’s fabulously decorated bedroom. Here she is with her beautiful mama…

While visiting with Bobbi during the session, I discovered that she runs her own fashion design studio (Bobbi Leigh Designs) from her home in Fredericton. She specializes in wedding gowns & accessories as well as formal wear such as prom gowns. If you’re looking for a fabulous custom gown for your event from one seriously fabulous lady, be sure to call Bobbi! Her number is 506-453-9988

I could use some upgrades. A Heather V2.0, if you will.
These aren’t so much new year’s resolutions (good thing since it’s almost February!). They are just some relatively smaller things that I’d like to improve about myself and my lifestyle and I figure if I put in on the internet, then maybe they are more likely to happen. Along with sharing the goals, I’ll share the current reality so that there’s some comparison there by which to measure things later.
Current Reality #1:
I hardly ever read. I buy books because I want to read them… I just don’t do it. Chapters is one of my favouite stores, and yet I’m not a reader!
Goal #1:
To read a book per month… and not just Levi’s Little Critter’s stories. An actual book book, like one of the dozens that I’ve bought and haven’t read yet.
Current Reality #2:
I’ve owned this Pilates DVD for approx 3 years now, and the only time I ever turned it on was last week to see how hard it was going to be and I sat and ate a bag of Mini Eggs while watching it. Not doing it, watching it.
Goal #2:
To actually DO the Pilates workout 3 times each week….. sans Mini Eggs.
Current Reality #3:
We tend to avoid doing the dishes. Usually, we’ll spend like 10 minutes rearranging the dishwasher to try to cram stuff in instead of just taking 5 minutes and washing them by hand. Sometimes days go by without washing a frying pan or pot. There was this one time last year that I actually threw out a $20 roasting pan instead of washing it. Seriously.
Goal #3:
To do the dishes right after a meal, and therefore cram and run the dishwasher less often.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, my friends. I’ll report back later on these, and add some new ones to the pile. Now that you know, world wide web, I pretty much have to follow through.
Stay tuned for images from two newborn sessions this week!
They’ve been friends since high school, have gone off to University together, and are in New York right now auditioning for theatre schools. I just LOVE it when people know exactly what they want and they go after it. I think it’s an incredibly admirable thing and these guys have all the potential to make it all happen. These guys are SO nice, SO talented, and just SO MUCH FUN. We got together two weeks ago to do some headshots of them to leave behind with their resumes to the theatre schools. I was excited to be a part of their process, and I’m glad that I have documented proof that I knew them before they made it big =)

It was COLD. But then came anyway. The snow was DEEP. But they hiked up hill anyway. The ground was FROZEN. But they sat their butts on it anyway. Yup, I like these two. Lots.
Besides being total troopers, there’s lots of things that I have already found to like about Kris & Kelita. For instance, how relaxed they are and how they make you feel comfortable by just being around them. They are quick to smile and laugh, even at my stupid comments. How cute they look together in pictures, which makes my job so easy. That they are taking Dave & I to the Dominican Republic with them in April for a week so I can photograph their wedding. Sitting here on this freezing January day, I’m thinking they might just be my two new favourite people =)
Kris & Kelita, it was a lot of fun braving the cold, windy day with you! Enjoy your preview!

These guys are so cute.
I’ve known Gillian since she was in grade 6 and she joined the high school cheerleading team. She was just so little and cute and I had the pleasure of being able to throw her around in the air for a few years. Loved it. The girl literally had no fear! No matter what, she was always so happy and bubbly and quick to bust out in a super hearty laugh. We all just adored her so much. Now, she’s all grown up and gettin’ married. *sigh*
Chris adores her too, and that makes me super happy. From what I can see, she kinda likes him back.
These guys were so much fun to play in the snow with! They didn’t even blast me with a snowball. They are just SUCH nice folk. Can’t wait for their wedding in June =)

First of all, I do have sessions and stuff to post, I just haven’t had the chance yet! I will soon, I promise!
SO, I am posting this notice that I am having some serious issues with emails not coming through. If you have tried to contact me and haven’t heard back, I’m not being rude - I swear! I’ve had calls and second emails from several brides who had sent me emails using my websites contact form that I have never received. I am in the process of switching website hosting to fix the problem, and I really apologize about the hassle and delays in getting you the info you are looking for. So please, if you’re still waiting to hear from me, maybe just give a call instead (506.324.0741) and I’ll take care of ya.
Thanks!!

Merry Christmas, everyone!!
SO, about the photo….
This summer at a yard sale, I found the missing piece… a matching sweater for Levi. I almost went into hysterics with excitement. Ok, maybe I did a little. See, last December Dave and I set out to find super ugly Christmas sweaters to wear to his Christmas party for work. We were completely floored when we found closely coordinating sweaters at the local used clothing outlet. So, naturally, we snapped those right up. They never crossed our minds again after the party until several months later when I found a miniature version of the ugly sweater while rummaging through some children’s clothing at a yard sale. It became very clear to me at that moment what needed to be done: one super cheesy family photo for a holiday card.
This photo couldn’t be much more opposite from the real us. Aside from the matching sweaters and lame pose, my absolute favourite detail is Dave’s mustache that he crafted just in the spirit of the photo. Special thanks to my buddy, Kristina for helping to make this magical image possible!

There’s this really fun trend that’s been growing in North America to have a photo booth at your wedding reception. Now, that just sounded like a good time to me, so I decided to set one up at Jim & Tanya’s wedding and just let their guests loose in it. Unlike a traditional photo booth, I was actually there taking all of the images and I had a BLAST with these guys!! Their guests loved it, my assistant and I loved it, and most importantly… Jim & Tanya loved it. Due to the extreme fun levels, this is now officially something that I am offering as an add-on to any wedding. If I’m photographing your wedding next year and you want in on that action, just let me know and I’ll give you the details!
Here’s a few of my favourites:

My little boy turned one yesterday. (insert deep sigh here)
As I was getting a massage yesterday afternoon, I was thinking how much better I felt at that moment than I did at that exact time last year. Obviously, he was a bit of a pain at the time…. and often still is! But, I can honestly say he’s been the best thing ever and I’ve loved (almost) every minute of it. He’s so funny and so cuddly and gives the best big slobbery kisses a mama could ever hope for. He has brought us SO MUCH fun & happiness and I am overwhelmingly thankful for him. I could never possibly deserve such an amazing gift, but I’m happy to take it anyway! =)
My top 10 favourite things about Levi so far (in random order):
- Our bedtime snuggles
- How cute he looks naked (or in anything!)
- How he shares his food with his puppy when he thinks we’re not watching
- How he makes motor sounds with his mouth when he plays with trucks and tractors
- How every morning when Dave brings him into bed with us, the first thing he does is crawl up and give me a kiss
- His laugh/squeals… especially when you tickle or chase him
- He’s just so passionate about eating (just like his daddy) and it’s hilarious!
- His buzz cut, button nose, dimply butt cheeks, chubby hands & feet, those blue eyeballs…
- The faces he makes. He’s always made a large variety and kept us entertained! My current favourite is the nose scruntch smile.
- How he blabbers on about stuff all day, and even moans until he finally falls asleep.
- How excited he is to see you if you’ve been gone for a bit
- How he laughs at himself when he knows he’s being funny
I could go on and on! But, obviously what you want is some pictures! This took me a long time to do, but I’ve narrowed down the masses of images from the past year to large handful of 30-40 favourites…
4 days old….

two weeks old…

4 months…
6-8 months…

His first haircut (a slick buzz)
Watching sports with dad…
Excited to see daddy at lunchtime…
9 months…
On the ferry on our way from Vancouver Island to Whistler…
10 months/Halloween….
11 months…
With his absolute most favourite toy that he plays with all the time…
Levi LOVES our dog, Griffin. If you’ve ever seen Griffin, then you know he has two different colored eyes and one ear that sticks up higher than the other.
Well, my mom made Levi a birthday cake to resemble Griffin…. and Levi let him lick off his fingers =)
And yesterday for his birthday, we let him loose on another cake in the studio. Like any responsible mother would, I let him eat until he cried of a belly ache for the sake of pictures =)

Happy Birthday, Levi! We LOVE you!
